Update

We are now in our 3rd Science Unit Pulleys and Gears.  We have identified the 3 main pulleys systems ( e. g.  fixed, movable and compound) and found some systems that are used in our daily lives ( e.g. clotheslines, flagpoles, cranes).  We even built the systems in class using small pulleys, string and a weight which helped us to understand the purposes of pulley systems.  We have also identified types of gears   ( (e.g. spur gears, bevel and worm gear) and found some systems that are used in our daily lives ( bicycles, can openers and drills).

Homework

Bonne et Heureuse Année!

I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays. I would like to thank you for the thoughtful gifts!  The last few days of school was crazy busy, I did not get a chance to write a thank you note to everyone.  So sorry.

We are going to start the new year with our second Science unit:  Light and Sound in Grade 4.

In December, we were very busy with our Social Studies unit Physical and Political Regions of Canada.  We labelled a map with the provinces and territories, another with the capital cities and finally one with the physical regions of Canada. We also reviewed each individual physical regions to get a feel of each region and the differences between them.  Finally, the students were busy creating a slideshow on a province or territory.

At this time, I would like to introduce some homework.  For those interested, my suggestions are up!! Check them out under Homework on the right hand side of our blog.

Thank you for your continued support
